Discover storage systems

Discovery is the process by which storage system, volume-level configuration, and status information is retrieved.

About this task

A configuration database file on each host maintains the discovered configuration and status data for all storage systems, as well as their directors and volumes. Once you have discovered your environment, you can direct information requests to retrieve system level (high-level) data or volume-level (low-level) information from it.

To discover a storage system:

Steps

  1. Click the arrow next to the storage system number in the title bar and click DISCOVER SYSTEMS.
  2. Read the warning, which states that the operation may take some time, and click OK to confirm if you want to proceed.
